West_östlicher Diwan

The title is taken from a collection of poetries created by Goethe. It is concerned with the meeting of the eastern and western culture.

Magnified waterdrops in slow motion are flowing down an upright surface (2,20 x 1,30 m) This rectangular shape is at one short side of a pool filled with dark liquid (1,50 x 3,00 m) Both are standing on a sand field (2,50 x 4,00 m).

IYou hear oriental singing that is sometimes interrupted by a hollow sound reminding of an explosion. At this moment the drops seem to be catapulted off the surface and the sound creates movements on the liquid like concentric waves.
Now it gets quiet until the waves are vanished .Softly the singing starts again and the drops go on flowing.

The video sculpture is also concerned with the meeting of these both cultures. You can think about the relationship of east and west nowadays.
